Deep in the jungle in Cambodia, an extremely precious and rare tree grows, the Aquilaria is a prized tree from which agarwood/oud is extracted.
There are Indian agarwoods, Thai agarwoods, Burmese agarwoods, and it is widely recognized that Cambodia produces some of the world’s most seductive, rich, sweet and deep agarwood trees and oils. That’s why we headed out there first.
Aquilaria trees growing wild in cambodia are known to produce some of the best smelling resins for distillation. I’ve been looking for wild agarwood for ages. Agarwood is known as oud in the middle east, Gaharu in Indonesia, Jinko in japan, and aloeswood in the bible where it is referenced in multiple locations as an anointing oil.,
Due to it’s rarity and price, finding unadulterated oud is challenging. After screening dozens of agarwood salesmen, I met up with Lorn, the son of a wild agarwood hunter, who runs his own distillery – which was perfect. I wanted to see the process from seedling to plant, to chips to oil to be sure of the authenticity and quality of the product.
We went out to visit his plantation and also met up with a couple hunters of wild agarwood. He sells both kinds plantation oil and wild oil. I’m giving you the best I could find after my time in Cambodia.
This particular one is pure 1st distillation, wild Cambodian Agarwood, an increasingly rare item. We hope you love it!
